Jane Zhang is the Head of Southeast Asia for Breakthrough Energy Fellows, leading regional efforts to support early-stage start-ups, innovators, and climate-tech ecosystem builders. Previously, she served as a Business Fellow at Breakthrough Energy, advising startup founders and innovator fellows on business and commercialization strategies to transition research and innovation from the lab to the market.
Before joining Breakthrough Energy Fellows, Jane was a General Manager at Shell, managing a multi-hundred-million-dollar innovation fund focused on research, technology development, scale-up, and commercialization.
With an extensive background in industry, Jane brings deep expertise in energy systems, capital projects, and technology commercialization. Her experience spans technology derisking, go-to-market strategy, techno-economic analysis, strategic business planning, partnership development, and leadership growth.
Jane holds a PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Cornell University and a BS in Engineering Mechanics from Tsinghua University.
